A method of disinfecting comprising directing a laser fluid jet through atmospheric air onto a surface, moving the jet relative the surface so that the jet directly impacts on substantially the entirety of a portion of the surface to be disinfected, the laser fluid jet comprising a stream of fluid and laser energy directed via the fluid stream.
