Abstract
Antifungal compounds represented by formula I where R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are as defined herein. Isolated or purified naturally occurring 20,21-dihydro ambruticin compounds. The invention also provides Sorangium cellulosum ambM, ambO, ambP, and ambS mutant strains; a recombinant Sorangium cellulosum strain that produces 24-norambruticin compounds; and a method for treating a fungal infection using a compound of this invention.
