Abstract
There is provided a process for the preparation of aromatic amines of Formula (1): where R.sup.x is optionally substituted aryl and R.sup.y is optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, which comprises: (a) reducing a compound of Formula (2): to give a compound of Formula (3): then, (b) reacting a compound of Formula (3) with a leaving group donor, to give a compound of Formula (4); and, (c) reacting a compound of Formula (4) with ammonia to give the compound of Formula (1).
