The invention describes a handrail driving system (2), a handrail guiding system (8) and a handrail (1), for example for an escalator (4) or a people-mover or moving sidewalk. The handrail driving system (2) comprises at least one driving element (10), which is actively connected with a driving motor (12) and formed for contacting the handrail (1) in defined areas, whereby at least in the contact area (13) intended for contacting the handrail (1), the driving element (10) is realized by a material forming in cooperation with a material of the handrail an interacting material pairing having a static coefficient of friction of higher than or equal to 0.95.
