Abstract
A breathing assistance apparatus that comprises a gas delivery device adapted to provide gas at a substantially positive mean pressure. The gas delivery device includes a communication port adapted to communicate with an external device and the device is configurable to at least two configurations. The first configuration is where the gas delivery device has a predetermined functionality in a first state. The second configuration is where the gas delivery device has a predetermined functionality in a second state. The second configuration is activated by the external device. The external device may be a mechanical key or a software key.
