Abstract

Amides of the formula (I) and salts thereof wherein: A is CH or N; Y is O or S; n is 0 or 1; R.sup.1 is (C.sub.1-C.sub.4)-haloalkyl; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are identical or different and are hydrogen, (C.sub.1-C.sub.4)-alkyl, (C.sub.1-C.sub.4)-haloalkyl or halogen; R.sup.4 is hydrogen, (C.sub.1-C.sub.10)-alkyl, (C.sub.3-C.sub.10)-cycloalkyl, (C.sub.3-C.sub.10)-alkenyl or (C.sub.3-C.sub.10)-alkynyl, where in the alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl groups mentioned up to three hydrogen atoms may be replaced by halogen, preferably fluorine or chlorine, in the case of fluorine also up to the maximum number; R.sup.5 is G.sup.1SR.sup.6, G.sup.1S(O)R.sup.7, G.sup.1S(O).sub.2R.sup.8, G.sup.1OR.sup.9, G.sup.1NR.sup.10R.sup.11, G.sup.2CR.sup.12.dbd.NOR.sup.13, G.sup.1ON.dbd.CR.sup.14R.sup.15, G.sup.2CR.sup.12.dbd.N--NR.sup.16R.sup.17, G.sup.1NR.sup.13N.dbd.CR.sup.14R.sup.15, G.sup.1NR.sup.18NR.sup.19R.sup.20, G.sup.1ONR.sup.21R.sup.22, G.sup.1NR.sup.23OR.sup.24, G.sup.2CR.sup.10.dbd.N.sup.(+)(O.sup.(-))R.sup.12, R.sup.25 or G.sup.1R.sup.26; G.sup.1 is a straight-chain or branched (C.sub.2-C.sub.6)-alkylene moiety, the distance between the amide nitrogen and the radical R.sup.5 being at least C.sub.2; G.sup.2 is a straight-chain or branched (C.sub.1-C.sub.6)-alkylene moiety and R.sup.6 to R.sup.26 are as defined in the description; are suitable for controlling pests.
