A gaming machine having a suspended bonus game. When the bonus game occurs having casino personnel suspend play of the bonus game for a promotional period Promotional activities are undertaken by the casino during the promotional period to publicize the play of the second bonus game by the player. When the promotional period ends, casino personnel re-activate play of the bonus game At least one response is received from the player. The player is provided a bonus award based on the received response.
