Abstract
A cosmetic material with an excellent feeling which contains a crosslinked product of poly-.gamma.-glutamic acid and/or a crosslinked product of a poly-.gamma.-glutamic acid salt having a particle size of 0.1 to 100 .mu.m and an average particle size of 1 to 50 .mu.m, exhibits a less stickiness upon use, a good familiarity with skin or hair, a good moisture retention effect and a good moist feeling, and is improved in various feelings such as smoothness and neat feeling. Also, a cosmetic material with an excellent oil dispersibility which comprises an oiliness agent selected from the group consisting of vegetable oils, higher alcohols or esters thereof, higher fatty esters and liquid paraffins, and a crosslinked product of poly-.gamma.-glutamic acid and/or a crosslinked product of a poly-.gamma.-glutamic acid salt as an oil dispersion modifier, exhibits a less stickiness upon use and a good familiarity with skin or hair, and the oiliness agent can be well dispersed in the cosmetic material even though no surfactant or a reduced amount of a surfactant is used therein.
