Abstract
A nanocomposite, rare earth permanent magnet comprising at least two rare earth- or yttrium-transition metal compounds. The nanocomposite, rare earth permanent magnet can be used at operating temperatures of about 130 to about 300.degree. C. and exhibits improved thermal stability when compared with Nd.sub.2Fe.sub.14B-based magnets. Methods of making the nanocomposite, rare earth permanent magnets are also shown.
