Abstract

The present invention describes the synthesis of new sulforated fluorinated elastomers having very low glass transition temperatures (T.sub.g), a good resistance to bases, oils and fuels and good properties of workability. These elastomers contain, by way of example, from 80 to 60 mole % of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and 20 to 40 mole % of perfluoro(4-methyl-3,6-dioxaoct-7-ene) sulfonyl fluoride (PFSO.sub.2F). In this case, they are prepared by radical copolymerisation of VDF and PFSO.sub.2F in the presence of different organic initiators, for example, peroxides, peresters or diazo compounds.
