A compound of Formula (1) or a salt thereof: wherein: X and Y are each independently a substituent; G is optionally substituted C.sub.1-12-alkylene; M is a metal n is 0 to 6; p is 0 to 3; R.sup.1 is optionally substituted C.sub.1-8-alkyl, optionally substituted C.sub.5-8 cycloalkyl, optionally substituted aryl or an optionally substituted heterocycle; and R.sup.2 is H, or C.sub.1-4-alkyl; provided that R.sup.1 is free from carboxy groups. Also an ink-jet printing ink, an ink-jet printing process, a printed material and an ink jet printer cartridge.
