Abstract
A cathode ray tube including a frame, wherein the frame includes a side wall, to which the shadow mask is welded, and a bottom wall extending from the side wall in a state of being bent inwardly of the frame, and the frame has a side wall height and a bottom wall width defined in a cross section of the frame taken along the longer axis (x), to satisfy a condition '1.29.ltoreq.FW_x/FH_x.ltoreq.1.90' where 'FW_x' represents the side wall height in the cross section of the frame taken along the longer axis (x), and 'FH_x' represents the bottom wall width in the cross section of the frame taken along the longer axis (x). In accordance with this frame structure, it is possible to increase the intrinsic frequency of the frame, and thus, to prevent a degradation in color purity caused by a howling phenomenon.
