The invention relates to expandable polystyrene (EPS) comprising polyolefin waxes, wherein the latter have been prepared by means of metallocene catalysts and have a drop melting point or ring/ball softening point of from 80 to 165.degree. C. and a melt viscosity measured at a temperature which is 10.degree. C. above the drop melting point or softening point of from 20 to 10 000 mPa.multidot.s.
