A base for polarizing plate protective film, which base is stuck on the surface of a polarizing plate of a liquid crystal display board, comprises a biaxially oriented polyester film having a coating layer on one surface thereof and has such properties that: the surface resistance of said coating layer is not higher than 1.times.10.sup.11 .OMEGA., the adhesive force (P2) of the acrylic adhesives to the coating layer surface is not more than 3,000 mN/cm, the difference (P1-P2) between the adhesive force (P1) of the rubber adhesives to the coating layer surface and the adhesive force (P2) of the acrylic adhesives is not less than 100 mN/cm, and the film haze is not higher than 2%. Such a polarizing plate protective film base excels in antistatic properties, chemical resistance, scratch resistance, handling quality, transparency, etc.
