Abstract
The present invention provides methods for treatment of hypothyroidism in an adult comprising the long-term administration of T.sub.3 at a dose of 0.005-0.03 .mu.g/kg body weight/hour/day or a at daily dose of 5-25 .mu.g T.sub.3 in a sustained-release formulation, in the absence of administration of a therapeutic dose of T.sub.4.
