A method for embroidering a fabric or article of clothing. A design is applied to a material using an application process such as screen-printing, transfer printing, ink jet printing or appliqu, and stitching is applied over one or more areas of the design in a density that permits design to remain visible through the stitching to give the appearance of a normally embroidered design using less stitches.
