Abstract
Methods of predicting a subject's likelihood of developing insulin resistance comprise determining in a subject the identity of the nucleotide present at position 100 of SEQ ID NO 1, wherein the allele comprising said nucleotide is correlated with an increased or decreased likelihood of developing insulin resistance, thereby identifying the subject as having an increased or decreased likelihood of developing insulin resistance. Methods for treating or preventing insulin resistance in a subject are also disclosed.
