Abstract
Returned checks are matched with related bank documents during a mail insertion operation. In the disclosed examples, the method and system utilize an imaging system to read the MICR account code line on each check payment document. The account number data from the check document is then compared to account number data for a related bank document and a match or mismatch is determined.
