Abstract
Rubber compositions may be prepared from rubber polymers, organoclays, accelerators, activators, vulcanizates and/or combinations thereof. A rubber polymer may be combined with an organoclay to form a clay-rubber composition. The clay-rubber composition may be cured in the presence of activators accelerators, vulcanizates and/or combinations thereof. In an embodiment, a rubber polymer may be combined with a clay to form a clay-rubber composition. The clay-rubber composition may be treated with an onium compound to form an organoclay-rubber composition. Improved mechanical and/or material properties may be observed in rubber compounds containing organoclays.
