Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for extracting volatile natural substances, for example a plant oil, from biological material, for example from plants, wherein the biological material contains water. The extraction is carried out without the addition of a solvent. Microwave irradiation is used for heating. The invention is also directed to a method of extracting a volatile natural substance from a biological material, wherein the biological material contains water, as described above, in an atmosphere with reduced pressure. The present invention also relates to a device for carrying out an extraction method of this type. This device comprises a microwave oven with a microwave chamber for receiving the biological material and a condensation chamber, wherein the condensation chamber is arranged above the microwave chamber, and is connected to the microwave chamber by a connecting channel.
