Abstract
A process for the catalytic conversion of an alkane to an alkene comprising reacting a C.sub.2 to C.sub.5 alkane and a sulfur-containing compound at a temperature of from 300.degree. C. to 650.degree. C. in the presence of a catalyst having a surface area greater than 100 square meters per gram, to afford the corresponding C.sub.2 to C.sub.5 alkene and hydrogen sulfide.
