Abstract
After a rod 4 with a pre-formed annular groove 21 is fixed on a reception die 26, a collar blank 23 is fitted on the rod 4. Then the die 25 is advanced toward the reception die 26 along the rod 4, urging the collar blank 23 into its forming bore 27, causing the inner diameter portion of the blank 23 to enter into the annular groove 21 by a plastic flow. Subsequently by a further advancement of the die 25, an annular projection 29 formed at the bottom surface of the forming bore 27 is driven into the end surface of the collar blank 23 to cause the blank to 23 plastically flow further into the annular groove 21.
