Abstract
A method for modifying and patterning biomedical implant materials that are interfaced to tissue is provided. A pulsed solid state laser is provided that produces a UV output. The UV output is directed to the surface. Micro-grooved surfaces are produced with groove depths in the range of 1 100 .mu.m.
