Abstract
To present appropriate characteristic terms to a searcher with respect to an arbitrary retrieval term, and provide an efficient information retrieving method. An index database 12 is constructed in advance from information in various storage media 10 and 11 so as to extract characteristic terms associated with a keyword 3 input by the searcher from the index database. Information retrieving is performed in a high-speed and convenient manner by presenting the characteristic terms to the searcher so as to cause the searcher to designate the characteristic terms.
