Abstract
The invention provides compositions and methods utilizing 14- and 15-member macrolide antibiotics for the treatment of patients with connective tissue diseases. The methods of the invention provide for the administration to a patient of a therapeutically effective amount of a 14-member macrolide antibiotic, a 15-member macrolide antibiotic, pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives thereof, and combinations thereof for a period of time sufficient to obtain a desired alleviation of one or more symptoms of the connective tissue disease.
