Abstract

The present invention relates to a polymer matrix comprising a backbone of linked macromonomers, wherein said macromonomers are selected from the group consisting of triethylene glycols, tetraethylene glycols, and pentaethylene glycols, including any derivative and/or combination thereof. The polymer matrix of the present invention has a high-loading capacity while still being able to swell in small volumes of organic and aqueous solvents; it forms beads effectively so as to provide a resin of homogeneous size and shape; and it is more stable both chemically and physically than state of the art resins. One preferred type of SPOCC resin according to the present invention comprises short chained ethylene glycol macromonomers, including tetraethylene glycol (TEG.sub.194), or derivatives thereof.
