Compounds of the formula (I) and their salts 1 in which R.sup.1 to R.sup.4, A.sup.1, A.sup.2, A.sup.3, Cy and Ar are as defined in claim 1 are suitable as herbicides and plant growth regulators. The compounds (I) can be prepared by processes as claimed in claim 7 via novel intermediates, for example the formula (III) and (V).
