The present invention relates to a method of modulating resistance to apoptosis in a patient. The treatment consists of administering to a patient a therapeutically effective amount of an enhancing agent which selectively inhibits or stimulates the function of PAX-2. The enhancing agent of the present invention allows to increase or to reduce resistance to apoptosis depending of targeted cells.
