Abstract
The invention features a method for purifying a cell surface plasma membrane, the method including the steps of: (a) contacting a biological sample with an antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds to a plasma membrane antigen, thereby forming an antibody/plasma membrane complex; and (b) recovering the antibody/plasma membrane complex, thereby purifying the plasma membrane from the biological sample. The invention further features methods for identifying plasma membrane polypeptides using mass spectrometry and purified plasma membrane fractions.
