Method of drying an ink-jet print on a print-image carrier by means of infrared radiation, wherein the image carrier is transported through a strip-shaped irradiation zone and a radiation source is operated in such a way that radiation in the near-infrared region, in particular with a wavelength between 0.8 and 1.5 .mu.m, acts on the ink-jet print substantially over the entire surface of the print image.
