Abstract
The present invention relates generally to methods and systems that enable organizations to make secure a wide array of electronic transactions such as business-to-business transactions over corporate extranets. One aspect of the present invention allows companies to create an extranet with business partners that they know. The extranet host provides to a certification authority a shared secret and the names of the business partners that are authorized to access the corporate extranet. If the requestor's shared secret and name matches a digital certificate is automatically issued. The invention allows a business to issue secured socket layer (SSL), Object Signing, Client authorization and secure email certificates to internal employees as well as issuing client authentication certificates to business partners.
