Abstract
The invention provides a process for preparing a filled halobutyl elastomer which comprises admixing a halobutyl elastomer, particles of filler and a silane that has at least one hydroxyl group or hydrolysable group attached to a silicon atom of the silane, and curing the filled halobutyl elastomer with sulphur. The invention also provides a filled composition that has improved properties when compared with known carbon black filled elastomeric compositions.
